Dear Gerry,
Are We There Yet?
What is going on? Everyone I talk to says how busy they are! Is it the company I keep or is it this time of year or is the world going crazy? I for one am looking forward to some floating-on-the-lake-with-my-kids time this summer, and I think we all need and deserve a bit of that. And our work benefits from it.
I am booked for a Peak Potentials "Enlightened Warrior Camp" in July which promises to be a challenge, and an opportunity ...
But in August, I am finding time for camping with my kids, outings with my wife, and even a little time for "me and the guys". |

Crystal Reports Training Now Available We now have a relationship with a trainer from Toronto who specializes in Crystal Reports training - all versions, all levels. His name is Mark Baker, and Crystal training and consulting is all he does.
We have just finished a Level 2 class this week and it was a big success. The client was daunted by the cost and time investment of travelling to Vancouver or beyond to get the training they needed. Mark also provides lifetime free access to "refresher" training videos on his website and email support, similar to Sector's Learning Guarantee.
Do you use Crystal Reports or Crystal Enterprise? Do you need training? Please contact Shelley Humble (727-2266 or shelley@sectorlearning.com) to book a dedicated class, or view course descriptions and waitlist for the next offering on our website. |

Creativity and Innovation - A Laughing Matter
Since we are kicking off our Innovation and Creative Problem Solving workshops, I thought I would share a bit of "innovation humour". The site referenced here has quite a bit of useful information, too (Not that humour isn't "useful"!).
For example:
"If you see someone doing the impossible, don't interrupt them." Amar Bose (Bose Corporation)
"A sure cure for seasickness is to sit under a tree." Spike Milligan (Comedian)

Innovation Workshop Local Launch Event - UPDATE By Gerry Brimacombe
I am very excited about the Innovation and Creative Problem Solving workshop coming up on June 18th. I ran a pilot this week and the personal insights, business strategies, and practical tools they learned blew the group away.
And the event on the 18th is shaping up to be a very interested group with senior representatives from business, provincial government, federal government, UVic, the Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Conference Centre, VIATeC, and the Harbour Authority...with more coming. Come out to network as well as learn!
People are registering not just because of the importance of iInnovation in business and government today, and not just because $200 for this workshop (including lunch) is a great deal, but also because some of the program proceeds support the children's non-profit "Destination ImagiNation" (And the wine & cheese networking event at the end of the day is clinching it for many!).
And speaking of Destination ImagiNation, I have volunteered to lead that after-school program at my daughter's school. The main person for BC, Faith Garriock, will be in town June 18-19, so if any of you teachers or principals would like to learn more about this amazing program, Faith would be the person to meet. Let me know or see www.bcdi.org for more information.
There are still some spaces for the June 18th workshop. If you are interested, please register here.
P.S. Did I mention the networking, wine and cheese? |

eRUPTIK Technology
A different name, to be sure, but this is a different kind of software company. Eruptik, formerly known as FastPath, is a rapid application development shop right here in Victoria.
Phil McLaughlin and Michelle Frost have been working with us for 3 years now, since they developed our registration and course management system. The also developed the brewery management system for
Phillips Brewing (yes there are fringe benefits) and just finished a whole content management system, for NECI.
Very cool stuff. Phil is just brilliant and Eruptik puts a lot of attention into giving clients exactly what they need, quickly and at low cost.
If you need any sort of business management or workflow system, give Michelle a call at 250-384-3278 and mention Sector. Or see thier website at www.eruptik.com.
